A Jubilee Invitation

As the Jubilee approaches we are celebrating with a Jubilee Tea Party on Thursday 31st May, 4.30pm. We will be having some old fashioned games, sandwiches and cake! All our pupils are invited, but so too are our friends from the villages and wider community. All we ask is that you let us know you are coming so we know how many to cater for!

All our pupils will receive a small jubilee commorative gift. We look forward to seeing you there.

Wanted: Bunting and volunteers to help decorate the school playground. Please see Mr Reade if you can help.

School Journey and Other News

We'', just a weekend to go before parents and school say a temporary farewell to pupils in Class 3 and 4 who are off on their residential trip to kingswood, Norfolk. I'm sure they will have a great time.

Children who are not going on the residential will be taught by myself and Mrs Stratton and will be visiting Duxford on Friday 18th May.

A Trip To The Wild Wood and other news.

We are all gearing up here for a visit to Celtic Harmony Camp on Thursday. A chance to go back in time to see how our ancestors lived. The weather forecast is rather prehistoric as well! Damp and wet - just right for the woods! Please ensure the children are dressed appropriatly, especially footwear, and are wearing a school top.

Wenlock And Clubs!

Yes, our first week back at school and we seemed to dive right in with our first trip on Wednesday when classes 3 and 4 visited our partner school of Wenlock Junior School in Luton. We went for a rather damp walk around Luton town centre and spotted lots of shops - a rarity in Hormead and Hare Street! We also visted their Parish church of St Mary's and noted the many differences. We look forward to hosting pupils from Wenlock (but not all 311!) when they visit us later in the term.

Happy Easter

Well, the Easter break is truly upon us and I hope that everyone is having a restful and relaxing time - and not too many Easter Eggs, not all at once anyway!

Just a reminder that we return to school on Tuesday 17th April and, almost straight away, Classes 3 and 4 have a trip on Wednesday 18th, to our partner school, Wenlock, in Luton. There is no cost, although children will need a packed lunch that day. The journey takes place within school time and we should be back by 3.15pm. A letter will be sent out on Tuesday to remind parents.

Race Night

Yes, the Friends are having a brilliant Race Night on Saturday 24th March. Tickets are £10 (£7.50 for children) and this includes a fish and chip supper. There is a bar and a raffle and some great prizes to be won.
Remember, every penny raised goes towards supporting the school and the children's wider curriculum activities. For tickets please see one of the Friends or call the school office on 01763 289201

Happy Half Term Everyone

Building a snowman

Well, after a week of freezing temperatures, snowy weather and rather slippery pavements, playgrounds and roads I think half term has come at just the right time for the pupils and staff to have a well deserved break.

We wish you all a great half term - remember be safe as we want to see every member of our Hormead family safely back at school on Monday 20th of February.

School Open - Friday 10th February

Despite a snowfall last night, the main roads are reasonably clear and the school is open. However, parents are urged to take account of local conditions on minor roads - please be careful.

Non Uniform Day

Our first fundraising event of the year is this Friday 27th January when we are holding a Non Uniform day in aid of Unicef "Day For Change"

We are also holding a Celebration Assembly at St Nicholas Church on Friday as well. Don't forget your child's wellies as we will be walking across the field!

Parents, and members of the community, are obviously welcome to come along at 2.45pm and share in our celebration of the Pupils achievements. Children can be collected from the Church, or from school at 3.15pm as normal.

Welcome Back

A Warm Welcome back to everyone and I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year Break. A special welcome to our new pupils who join our Nursery and Reception class - Archie, Lewis, Liam, Layla, Freya, Holly and Evie. I have already popped in to say hello and I'm sure they being made to feel very welcome as the newest members of our little family.

We have already set some dates for this term, which can be viewed on our website and the school notice board and will be published in our first newsletter of 2012 out soon.
